Marriage, as instituted by God, is a faithful, exclusive, lifelong union of a man and a woman joined in an intimate community of life and love. They commit themselves completely to each other and to the wondrous responsibility of bringing children into the world and caring for them. The call to marriage is woven deeply into the human spirit. Man and woman are equal. However, as created, they are different from but made for each other. This complementarity, including sexual difference, draws them together in a mutually loving union that should be always open to the procreation of children (see Catechism of the Catholic Church [CCC], nos. 1602-1605).

Thiên Chúa là tình yêu, và đã tạo dựng con người từ tình yêu. Ngài kêu gọi con người yêu thương. Khi tạo dựng họ có nam có nữ, Người kêu gọi họ sống đời hôn nhân trong một hiệp thông thân mật của sự sống và tình yêu với nhau, “vì lẽ đó, họ không còn là hai, nhưng là một thân thể” (Mt 19, 6). Khi chúc lành cho họ, Thiên Chúa nói : “Hãy sinh sôi nảy nở” (St 1,28).

These truths about marriage are present in the order of nature and can be perceived by the light of human reason. They have been confirmed by divine Revelation in Sacred Scripture.

• Lớp Dự Bị Hôn Nhân được tổ chức 1 năm – 1 lần vào tuần thứ 2 của tháng Sáu.
• Chương trình sẽ được thông báo vào tháng 2 mỗi năm để ghi danh.
• Vợ và chồng tương lai khuyến khích để học chung một lớp.

7 steps to prepare for your marriage/7 việc quan trọng phải làm để chuẩn bị cho hôn nhân

Step 1. Introductory meeting with priest or pastoral minister:

• Meet at the rectory or parish with a pastoral minister, priest or deacon. Get the information about the parish’s guidelines for marriage at that location. You will also begin to fill in some of the required papers.
• Anh chị cần gặp cha chánh xứ của giáo xứ càng sớm càng tốt, để bàn thảo về chương trình dự định ngày cưới của mình. Sẽ có một ít hồ sơ cần điền ra.

Step 2. Premarital evaluation and discussion.

• The inventories recommended by the diocese as being both research and scientifically based with a Catholic understanding of marriage are The Catholic Couple Check Up or FOCCUS (Facilitating Open Caring Communication Understanding and Study) instruments. However, at HVMCC we will have shorter version and bi-lingual.
• Anh chị cần làm kiểm tra cá nhân để hiểu nhau nhiều hơn. Theo địa phận thì phải qua chương trình FOCCUS nhưng giáo xứ chúng ta có phần kiểm tra ngắn gọn hơn và hai thứ tiếng.

Step 3. Follow-up discussion.

• Engaged couples can meet with a coach to discuss the areas of your relationship that need more attention, while affirming your strengths. This is not Catholic marriage preparation counseling, it is coaching.
• Anh chị sẽ gặp với thầy Phó Tế để đi qua kết qủa của phần kiểm tra. Anh chị sẽ có cơ hội chia sẻ với nhau để chuẩn bị cuộc sống hôn nhân dễ dàng và rõ ràng hơn.

Step 4. Participation in marriage preparation class.

• There is education and preparation for receiving all the sacraments of the faith, including the Sacrament of Matrimony. This is fulfill the Catholic marriage preparation requirements for the diocese. Natural Family Planning (NFP) will be a part of the preparation class.
• Anh chị phải qua lớp dự bị hôn nhân mà chúng ta đang có ở đây. Lớp sẽ gồm có cả bài NFP mà địa phận luôn nhắc nhở phải có trong chương trình này.

Step 5. Consultation with pastoral minister.

• Discuss any issues or concerns raised in your marriage preparation program and review the details of the ceremony with the pastoral minister, priest, or deacon. Complete all papers. Review the decisions you have made for the readings and music.
• Gặp cha chánh xứ để bàn thảo thêm những vấn đề cần thiết, những thắc mắc hoặc những chia sẻ ý kiến từ cha. Sau đó sẽ chuẩn bị các giấy tờ cho ngày lễ thành hôn.

Step 6. Wedding rehearsal and marriage license.

• The wedding rehearsal takes place with those with an active role in the ceremony: bride, groom, maid of honor, best man, and the readers of the Word. Include others as determined with your priest or deacon. Be sure you bring your marriage license at least one but no more than 30 days before the ceremony..

Step 7. Wedding day.

• Congratulations! Your big day is finally here. Enjoy this day with family and friends as you begin your lifetime commitment to one another.
